Autumn at Aumann's

Autumn has arrived and there have been lots of different new seasons apples coming into the shop.  They will just be available for a short period so we can just enjoy them while they last.   Fuji has now been picked as well as Gala, Jonagold, Golden Delicious, Jonathons, etc. 

New seasons pears are also available the “ever favourite” William Pears, Packhams, Beurre Bosc, Corellas and Nashi pears.

We have in the shop at the moment a selection of delicious autumn plums.  These plums are sensational to eat.  Autumn Giant, a light blood plum, as well as yellow fleshed clingstone peaches which are just wonderful stewed or eaten fresh.  

 It has been a good time to preserve fruit and for us to fill our larders with tomato sauce, chutneys and relishes, jams etc. for the winter. If you haven’t made your tomato sauce, chutney or pasta sauce yet, it is not too late, sauce tomatoes can usually be obtained when visiting our shop or if not available can be ordered.

Autumn is a time for quinces.  Quince jelly is an old favourite or why not try our baked quince recipe.  Rhubarb is also a favourite in the shop and is readily available.

In the vegetable section, new season's corn is the headline act, at its best and cheapest right now.   Iceberg lettuces are just great for that summer salad and also we have in stock a range of organic salad leaves, and baby spinach to name a few. The flavour and texture is amazing.

Come in and enjoy a nice cup of coffee, or a cold drink whilst you browse the ever changing array of produce. We also stock all those extras you may need. Spices, pasta and pasta sauces, jams and chutneys,  fruit cordials, fudge, chocolate shiraz, and more. 

Have you checked out the fridge?. There you will find smoked chicken roll, Meredith Cheeses, mushroom pâté, trout pâtés, dessert yoghurts, fresh pasta, amongst others. And then there is the freezer, Rickett's Point Ice Cream, Yarra Valley Pasta, Yarra Valley Ice Cream.

Oh yes, there are also free range eggs, sauces, rice, drinks, honey, local chocolates, biscuits, cakes and more. 

Our fruit Speciality Store is open 7 days a week and is well worth a visit. Pop in and be amazed, products change with the seasons. There is always something new at Aumanns.
